Kuwait’s public pension fund, the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS), is preparing to resume private equity investments after a hiatus of around three years, according to a report by Bloomberg citing people familiar with the matter.

The fund, which paused commitments following governance reforms and senior-executive changes in 2022, is reportedly in early discussions with several major buy-out firms as it seeks to redeploy capital into private markets.

At the time it paused its activity in private markets, the fund was among Kuwait's largest allocators, managing about $137bn.
